Manual Therapies · Trenton, MI

The healing power of
hands-on therapy.

Manual therapy is the cornerstone of advanced physical therapy — woven into an individualized treatment plan for every patient.

Total Body Rehab offers a wide array of the latest manual physical therapy techniques, incorporated into an individualized plan guided by your referring provider. We treat virtually any orthopedic injury or condition — including arthritis, sports injuries, carpal tunnel, auto-accident injuries, and ailments of the back, limbs, and joints.

Therapeutic Massage

PT massage differs from a spa massage: beyond relieving pain and tension, it rehabilitates muscle and joint strength, mobility, and function. Physical therapists are medically trained at the doctoral level, and integrating manual massage into rehab is clinically shown to increase range of motion, reduce pain, and speed recovery.

Stretching

A staple of physical therapy, prescribed to increase muscle length and range of motion and to align collagen fibers as muscle heals. Therapeutic stretching also corrects movement patterns that strain tissue — improving athletic performance, work productivity, and daily activities.

Myofascial Release

MFR releases muscular shortness and tightness to reduce pain and stiffness and increase range of motion. It helps patients who have lost flexibility after injury, illness, or surgery, and can ease TMJ, carpal tunnel, fibromyalgia, migraines, and other chronic conditions.

Cupping Therapy

Clinical-grade cups create a vacuum that draws the skin upward, stimulating the body’s wound-healing response. Increased blood, plasma, and healing factors rush to the area, accelerating tissue repair and relieving chronic or acute pain.

IASTM · Scraping

Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization uses medical-grade stainless steel tools drawn along the body to release muscle and fascia restrictions and adhesions — relieving pain, increasing range of motion, treating scar tissue, and reducing swelling.

Dry Needling

Very thin needles relax trigger points to restore normal muscle strength, tone, length, coordination, and function. Also called intramuscular stimulation (IMS), it triggers a spinal-cord reflex that relaxes muscle and releases endorphins for pain relief.
